Things to Take Away from the Webquest
After researching the American Revolution and one key figure in the struggle for American independence, you should have a much clearer understanding of what different people felt and how they acted during the late 18th century. By taking on the role of a person from this time period in America, you can see the effects of the problems that the colonists encountered with government repression and control in the Constitution of the United States, which we are still using to this day. Completing this assignment should have given you a better idea of what freedom means and what people are willing to do to fight for their rights as citizens (Americans), as well as how governments handle revolutions and uprisings from their people (British). For further study on these topics, you can study the French Revolution and look at the similarities in ideals of freedom between the two revolutions. Also, when we study the Civil War later in the year, keep in mind the unity of the colonists against the British and try to see how this unity crumbled and led to a rift in the United States 70 years later.
